Fans were left disappointed on Wednesday 27 July when Shawn Mendes announced that he would be cancelling the remaining dates on his worldwide tour.

This was set to be the singer’s first tour since before the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mendes was scheduled to bring his electric show to Glasgow as part of the UK leg of his tour, however he has since confirmed that this has been cancelled.

The singer initially postponed the tour for three weeks.

Shawn Mendes made the announcement that the rest of his world tour this year and into 2023 was cancelled via an Instagram post on Wednesday 27 July 2022.

The Canadian pop sensation has cited mental health struggles as the reason why he can not continue touring.

Mendes’ statement read: “After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I’ve never taken personally to ground myself and come back stronger.

"I unfortunately have to cancel the rest of the tour dates in North America, and the UK/Europe."

The singer cancelled more than 70 performances, including four shows in his home country of Canada and a huge show in Sheffield, Yorkshire.

Mendes ended the statement by saying: “I promise I will be back as soon as I have taken the right time to heal”

What other dates did Shawn Mendes cancel?

Mendes was scheduled to continue his mammoth world tour on 29 July 2022. The singer was set to take his show throughout the USA, Canada and Europe.

Shawn Mendes unfortunately had to cancel all six of his dates for the UK and Ireland leg of his tour. The dates were scheduled as the following:

  • 25 - Resorts World Arena, Birmingham
  • 26 - AO Arena, Manchester
  • 28 - OVO Hydro, Glasgow

It is unlikely that the show will be rescheduled, however, Mendes is likely to embark on a tour again when he has taken the time to recover.

According to Shawn Mendes’ official website ticketing websites will be notified of the cancellations and will then notify you as soon as possible.

Ticket holders who purchased tickets via Ticketmaster will not need to do anything as the website will automatically issue any refund to the original payment method used to purchase the tickets.

Ticketmaster urges its customers to keep their account and contact details up to date to avoid any issues in regards to communication and refunds.
