Murder most wicked at the King’s Theatre

LES Dennis is up to no good — and we’re not talking about his Masterchef concoctions.

The performer is heading for Glasgow in a stage adaptation of Peter James’ The Perfect Murder, the bestseller which stuck at number one in the book charts for 15 weeks.

Adapted for the stage by Shaun McKenna, it’s the story of Victor Smiley and wife Joan, who’ve been together for what feels like an eternity.

Victor secretly hates Joan and is seeking attention elsewhere, while Joan is bored stiff by Victor, who drives her mad.

It’s breaking point alright, and Victor decides there’s only one way to get rid of his dearly beloved forever — but he’s in for a nasty surprise as young detective Roy Grace starts to sniff around.

The Perfect Murder is definitely a black comedy, but with more than a few thrills in store too.

Dennis finished joint runner-up in last year’s Celebrity Masterchef, and he’s also been treading the boards as King Arthur recently in Spamalot.

He’s joined by Gray O’Brien (Coronation Street), Steven Miller (Casualty) and Simona Armstrong (BBC’s How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria), all directed by Olivier winner Ian Talbot.

It’s the first stage adaptation of the bestselling author’s work, and Peter James commented: “Ever since I was a small boy, I dreamed of one day having something I wrote appear on the stage.

“This wonderful, extremely funny and in parts very scary adaptation of The Perfect Murder is truly a dream come true - and I don’t think we could have a more perfect, murderously wonderful cast.”

Catch The Perfect Murder at the King’s Theatre from March 18-22 — tickets from 08448717648.
