SEO Content Editor
I’m a content editor in the SEO and Trends team at National World. Our team of fantastic reporters create content for a range of sites across the UK, optimised and edited by myself and two colleagues. These stories can range from trending celebrity and television pieces to breaking news stories, explainers on hot topics, previews and much, much more. Dorset born and bred, I lived away while I studied for my history degree at the University of West of England in Bristol, and when I did my fast-track NCTJ qualifications at the Journalist Works in Brighton. I first stepped foot in a newsroom for work experience at the age of 14 and haven’t looked back. From working on Saturdays and school holidays, to getting my first trainee reporter role at the Bournemouth Daily Echo, I’ve held an eclectic list of roles during my career so far. I started as a trainee reporter in a district office in 2007 at the Bournemouth Daily Echo and worked my way up to chief reporter and then digital audience and content editor. I left journalism briefly in 2019 and worked as a web editor at Ordnance Survey in Southampton, before missing the hustle and bustle of local journalism too much. I returned to the industry in July 2019 as a regional audience and content editor, responsible for overseeing and improving digital content and performance at a number of different publications across the south west including the Southern Daily Echo and Dorset Echo. In May 2021 I was seconded to the Southern Daily Echo for six months as their acting editor, before taking up the deputy editor role at Bournemouth Daily Echo until January 2023. Living near the coast, I love nothing more than walking my dog at the beach, and throwing some stuff in our camper van for a weekend or trip away and exploring. As a guilty pleasure, there’s nothing better than trashy reality television for a bit of escapism.
