Old pictures of Maryhill in Glasgow show a very different area to the one we know today
Maryhill has dramatically changed over the years as buildings and streets in the neighbourhood look unrecognisable to what they once were.
Much of the area was used as the backdrop for popular Scottish sitcom Still Game with some parts of Maryhill still looking a bit familiar to years gone by.

5. Kelvin Dock
Kelvin Dock on Maryhill Road in 1968 with there still being a bar named after the landmark until this day. The dock produced landing craft for the historic D-Day assault on the beaches of Normandy during the 1940s.

6. Maryhill Library
Marhill Library was opened in 1905 being one of the twelve libraries constructed with Andrew Carnegie’s gift of £100,000 to the city of Glasgow in 1901.

7. Garrioch Secondary School
Originally known as East Park Public School, the school was erected by the Maryhill School Board in 1888. It became East Park Primary School until 1969 when it was annexed as part of Garrioch Secondary.

8. Punch Bowl
The Punch Bowl pictured in 1937 with the original address of the established Maryhill local being on Wyndford Street which is now Maryhill Road.
