No joy for Cumbernauld Colts against champions Spartans
Colts went into the match full of confidence after a decent start to the season. But it took them a while to get into the game, which proved fatal to their aspirations.
Spartans took the game to the Colts from the first whistle and, after a period of sustained pressure, were in front after eight minutes, Jack Smith slotting home after latching onto a Jamie Dishington cutback.

But just as they were settling into the game, Colts found themselves two down on the half hour.
Richard Kirwan was adjudged to have handled a Smith shot inside his own penalty area and David Greenhill duly dispatched the spot kick into the roof of the net.
Seeing the chance to put the tie to bed Spartans maintained the pressure and but for Jordan Pettigrew in the Colts goal, getting down low to save to his left, would have added to their lead.
