Rangers reach 'full agreement' over next summer transfer as fee and contract details emerge
Rangers are nearing their next summer transfer deal on the flanks.
Rangers are closing in on a winger signing as boss Derek McInnes nears his next summer transfer.
The Ibrox gaffer made a plea for creativity after last week’s Premiership draw against Dundee United and now looks set to get his wish in Hannover’s Daisuke Yokota. He spent last season on loan at Bundesliga 2 level from Gent in Belgium and that deal was made permanent earlier this summer. An immediate cash-in opportunity is being seized though as multiple reports claim a deal is done.
Yokota has five goals and four assists for Hannover and has also played in Poland and Latvia. Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg stated: “Daisuke Yokota to Glasgow Rangers - DONE DEAL. Full agreement reached with Hannover 96. Transfer fee: €3-3.5m guaranteed, plus add-ons and a sell-on clause. A strongly negotiated deal by Hannover boss Jonas Boldt. The 26 y/o winger will travel on Tuesday for his medical before signing a long-term contract.”
What has Fabrizio Romano said about latest Rangers transfer?
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also broadcasted details of the deal. He stated via X: “Rangers reach verbal agreement to sign Daisuke Yokota from Hannover. 26 year old Japanese winger set for move worth €3.3m fixed fee plus €700k add-ons.”
Bundesliga commentator Derek Rae also provided some of his German football insight on what Rangers can expect from their new recruit. He said: “A few Rangers fans asked about Daisuke Yokota who I commentated on last season. 26 yo small tempo dribbling inverted right wing (left footed) not physical. More good than bad at H96.
“5 goals & even mix of starts & sub apps counter threat/counter pressing in his game. Yokota generally played wide right in a 3-4-3. Hannover - one of the better teams in the 2. Liga - had him on loan from KAA Gent and only triggered the buy option in June. But very clear he wanted to move on, we thought to the Bundesliga, but instead it appears, to Govan.”

What has Derek McInnes said about Rangers transfer business?
McInnes said after last week’s draw vs United: “I didn’t want to make a big deal of that ahead of this game, but we’ve got so many obvious advantages that come with Rangers and what we can do in terms of transfers and level of players. But that competitive edge is just clear, it’s hard to replicate that. But it’s not an excuse. Nobody’s going to be perfect at this stage of the season.
“It’s those moments, it’s those kinds of quality signings along with the players improving that we’ve got in‑house that makes me really confident that we’re going to have a strong season. I know the evidence today would suggest we’ve still got loads and loads to do, but I do think we have got enough to be encouraged about. The new signings need to land pretty soon; I need to say that. Everybody’s worked hard to get the right players in, and I appreciate the effort that’s been made, but we’ve got important games and we’re just really trying to crank that up to try and get players in the building as quickly as possible.”
