Former St Joseph's Primary School, in Busby, pupil and Queen's Park player Andrew Robertson has signed for football giants Liverpool.

The deal with the 23-year-old’s former club, Hull City, was made for an undisclosed fee, but is believed to be in the region of £10 million.

He currently has 15 international caps for Scotland.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said: “We will see what happens but I really like, for example, the kind of project like Andrew Robertson.

“He is cool, he is not too long in professional football.

“He played outstandingly well at Hull but people have said: ‘In defensive one-on-ones he is not that good’. That’s not a problem. I can’t teach him playing football because he is already good at that but I can teach him how to deal with one-on-ones because I could do that and I was a really bad footballer.”

Andrew tweeted that it was “a boys [sic] dream has become a reality! Absolutely delighted to sign [Liverpool] and be part of the Liverpool family. Can’t wait for the journey to continue at this great club”.
