Gazette Youth Football Awards set for Saturday

CARLUKE Masonic Hall will be the venue this Saturday, May 9 for the second staging of the Gazette’s Youth Football Awards ceremony.

The evening, which will start at 7 for 7.30pm, will see Motherwell FC captain Keith Lasley and Hamilton Accies winger Dougie Imrie handing out Player of the Year prizes to young stars from eight Clydesdale-based kids football teams.

Top table guest Millar Stoddart, who has helped with the organisation of the Clydesdale Sports Personality of the Year Awards for over 30 years, said: “I think this awards ceremony is an excellent football recognition scheme for local clubs.

“Full credit to the Gazette for introducing it.

“I’m sure – as per last year – that the clubs in attendance will find it to be an excellent initiative.

“Organising these events is demanding, but fine if you get a positive response from invited guests.”

Trophies kindly supplied by Skyree, Biggar, will be presented to Player of the Year winners from Milton Rovers, Symington Tinto, Biggar United, Gow Valley, Carluke United, Kirkfield United, Forth Community Club and Lanark United Youth Development.

There will also be overall Player, Team, Coach and Top Goalscorer prizes handed out.
