Motherwell FC skipper Keith Lasley and Hamilton Accies winger Dougie Imrie handed over trophies – kindly supplied by Skyree Biggar – to representatives from seven Clydesdale football teams.

There was a fantastic attendance of over 100 people at an event which was compered by Gazette senior reporter Craig Goldthorp. Our top table guests also included Clydesdale SNP MSP Aileen Campbell and Clydesdale Sports Council chairman Millar Stoddart, who both delivered entertaining speeches.

They watched as individual Player of the Year prizes were presented to youngsters from each club, before overall Player, Coach, Team and Top Goalscorer awards were also handed over.

Carluke Masonic Hall was a fantastic venue for an event which saw catering provided by John MacFarlane and a disco expertly managed all the way through until midnight by DJ Scott Stobie.

A live on stage question and answer session saw Craig interview ’Well’s Lasley and fellow Gazette reporter Ross Thomson question Accies’ Imrie.

The Gazette has received a lot of positive feedback since Saturday night, which we are very grateful for.
