James Campbell raises over £29K for NHS with garden marathon

Former Scotland Commonwealth Games participant James, whose parents were long-time residents of Carluke’s Yieldshields Road, repeatedly ran 6m back and forward outside.

James, who was running on his 32nd birthday, completed the daunting challenge outside the property in Cheltenham in five hours five minutes.

He said afterwards: “I’m choking up a bit. It’s unbelievable, the support and the amount of money it’s raised as well.”

James, who had his javelin career cut short at the age of 26 by shoulder injuries, has spoken out about mental health issues.

He hopes his efforts in running the back garden marathon helped give everyone a break from issues they face surrounding the coronavirus outbreak.
