The future is bright for young runner Erin

Giffnock North athlete Erin Wallace is celebrating following two successful weekend wins at opposite ends of the country.

The Newton Mearns girl returned home from Bedford on Sunday with a silver medal, picked up in the 1,500m at the English national age group athletics championships — having narrowly missed out on the gold by less than half a second.

The previous week, Erin won the equivalent Scottish race in Aberdeen.

And it was a victory which came just two days after gaining the British Triathalon 13/14 girls title, this time in Nottingham.

The Eastwood High pupil is looking forward to a break from nationals over the next month.

However, there’s no rest in sight, as Erin vows to keep up her training.

Teammate Hamish Armitt was also celebrating his times in Nottingham and Aberdeen,

Hamish finished fourth in the triathalon, as well as second in the Scottish 800m championship.
