The top 10 kebabs in Glasgow definitively ranked by the Shawarma Police featuring Shawarma King, Istanbul Turkish Kebab House, and more
It’s about time someone ranked the best kebabs in Glasgow, we can only apologise we didn’t do it sooner
For decades in Glasgow, drunk teenagers, students, adults and elderly folk alike have all argued after final orders have been called - where is the best kebab in Glasgow?
Well argue no more, as we’ve brought in the be all and end all of Glaswegian sources to end this kebab controversy.
In the dead of a weekend night, when pints have been drank and chips have been spilled - when the last train home has been missed and the night bus isn’t turning up - who is there to save us? Who could possibly rescue the people of Glasgow from the inevitable? A bad-quality kebab mis-purchased in a drunken haze.
None other than the Shawarma Police - the foremost academic and expert on all things Shawarma in Glasgow. No longer do half-eaten rubbish kebabs need to litter our streets, for we are saved by his expertise.
Hailing from London, our kebab constable moved to the city in the early noughties - and has faithfully watched his beat evolve and change in Glasgow over the last twenty years.
We caught up with Shawarma Police to do a public service for the people of Glasgow this weekend, and definitively rank the best kebabs in the city.
You can read more from the Shawarma Police on their website: https://shawarmapolice.com/ - or follow him on Facebook, Shawarma Police, to get live updates on kebab culture in Glasgow.
Shawarma Police has in-depth reviews of each kebab shop mentioned in this list, as well as reviewing new openings - and travelling all over the city to experience the best kebabs Glasgow has to offer.

5. 6. Pasha, North Frederick Street
“So many kebab shops deserve to be talked about like Shawarma King or German Doner Kebab does, and Pasha is one of them. It really doesn’t get enough of a buzz. They do great kebabs for fairly cheap prices. The service is always pretty spot-on, especially given how many drunk people they have to deal with.”

6. 5. 'BABS, West Nile Street
“Babs is a strange one for me. It’s a place I would go just to get up-menu stuff, grilled meats layered on pitta bread and roasted vegetable. It’s more of casual sit-down restaurant than a kebab shop as far as I’m concerned. Also they sell a lager from Germany, ABK hell, which only they and bread meats bread sell, and is ridiculously difficult to get - so they get bonus points for that.”

7. 4. Kurdish Street Food, Alison Street
“I visited Kurdish Street Food right after it opened for the first time, and since then I’ve seen them go from strength to strength. Back in the day you used to be able to get a kebab for £3 - a proper baked naan bread topped with pretty much too much to eat. A kebab that will take the evening and following morning to eat. After the pandemic and in the midst of a cost of living crisis, prices have gone up, but not by much. It’s still beyond a shadow of a doubt one of the best ones in town. It’s right on the corner of Govanhill on the way to Shawlands, a very handy location for Southsiders.”

8. 3. Shawarma King, King Street
“My reasoning for King’s place is as follows. It’s good, very good if you get them in the right mood. Ages and ages ago, Shawarma King was owned by Hajars, before it was taken over by the current management - and they were pretty ropey for a while after the takeover. I was unimpressed at first, but have been in from time to time since and it has been amazing at times. On the right day they are fairly unbeatable, but they have been inconsistent when I dropped by. They are good - but there are other places that slightly pip them in my opinion.” Photo: Google Streetview
